Boho Style Bedroom - Maya Side Project

I have decided to make myself angry in the next month by taking up a side project. Only my anger will be fueled by Maya and how it crashes on me constantly (thanks to my lovely MacBook Pro.......read Furious Blog Post for what has me irritated currently).

This will also help me improve on my Maya abilities as well. So I found some reference images and going to throw it all together in a single Maya side project : Boho Style Bedroom.

My goal is by the end of the month in my Fundamentals of Art II class to have this project completed without the rush of a weekly turn in.

So I will be posting updates as I go. So I thought for a starter... I'll post a picture of what I have, which isn't much.

So far all I have is a basic structure and I'm not even done with that. I have the walls, a lip in the back that sticks out, and a shelf. I'm going to be adding beams along the top on the ceiling and maybe a few more things to the structure itself before I start adding in all the nice little details and furniture.

One of my flaws is UV mapping, and I do want to be able to take this into Substance Painter and be able to make this something amazing and beautiful in the end. So I may do that. I'm a little unsure on how far  I do want to go with this but I know for a fact I want to master a lot of things I'm not good at. Including illegal geometry. I'll be watching YouTube video's on how to do certain things and make a scene look smooth as can be.

So the main reference picture I am using, yet I will be adding in more stuff like I said, is from Pinterest as you see above. This is going to be absolutely insane to do. I may or may not do the string lights like it shows and do something different, but I do love that look. I'm not sure how to do the string lights so that will be something I have to look up later on. The plants are something I want to get better at because I honestly sucked SO BAD on my last project with the 5 plants I had to do in that. I also ran out of time so I didn't get a chance to really do them like I wanted to. I will do a lot like I did in this last class and do different milestones. Now if I don't get it done within the month, that's fine. I just want to better myself at Maya because I do struggle a lot with it in certain aspects. As I go, I will link the reference pictures (with the actual link because I don't want to be slammed with anything, not what I'm trying to do) to show what I am adding or not. The pillows on the floor and the shoes I know I won't be adding but I am going to do something with the side that we don't see and I may completely close the structure and make a door or something and just go crazy with it.

I will more than likely post another update on this tomorrow as well as an update to my new and current class. I also have to find time to make a video and post that to my YouTube talking about the last month and what it was like. I have slacked off on my YouTube vlogs lately with school so I do need to catch up on that.
