ThyGeekdom Con

I had mentioned in my previous blog about ThyGeekdom Con and I didn't really go into detail with everything in it, so I thought I would make a blog just for my experience at ThyGeekdom Con.

ThyGeekdom Con was held this past weekend, November 2-4 2018. It was at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, Pa.

This was their 5th year holding this convention and honestly, it was different than the cons I've seen. This is only my second con I've been to, my first being Sci-Fi Valley Con.

I love to volunteer at these, my school has opened my eyes to being able to do this by giving me a push on how to get out there and work with people in my area and just learn more. Other than, I'm just a huge nerd and love being able to go to Cons.

I sadly missed Friday so this will be mostly about Saturday and Sunday.

I worked with some amazing people. They were friendly, nice, and really appreciated my effort and will to work attitude. I was always up for helping when they needed it and made sure what needed to be done, was done. I made some awesome friends, met some new people, and just loved the experience. I feel the layout could have been different but the space they are in, it worked. It's hard when you're on one level on trying to make sure when the artists and vendors leave to make sure their stuff is blocked off and kept safe, and they did a remarkable job on making sure that was taken care of during that time. The con on Saturday ran from 10A - 2A and had some amazing stuff going on. I did miss a lot as I was volunteering during most of the day except a few hours where I went and got food and charged my phone during that time. It held a variety of different panels that were educational and just fun (from what I could hear). There were some 18+ panels where my girlfriend later told me there were younger children well below 18 in them. So do expect to run into that if you go to ThyGeekdom Con.

Because it isn't split in rooms, you get to hear a mix of everything. From what I could hear, a lot of them were absolutely hilarious and you could get a good amount of laughs for your money. The entry for the weekend and by day is really a good price and I would say it would be about average honestly.

Saturday around midnight there was Karaoke in which was amazing and we had a small little crowd but it was full of fun and laughter. There was no judgement of how well one could sing and we were all just in it for the songs and the fun......minus those few technical difficulties.

Sunday was a little more dead in the crows and vendors and artists started leaving early. But there were amazing deals, each artist and vendor was really friendly (except a few I saw being con-killers and just trying to cause issues) and they were all helpful at giving tips and giving out information that was needed.

Will I be going back? For sure. As I would recommend everyone else going as well.

Chris, who runs the con, was really fun to be around the few times I could. He didn't shake my hand at the end of the night on Sunday when I was done helping tear the place down but instead gave me a hug. I thanked him for giving me the chance to be there and told him I would be back to help out, because it was an amazing experience.

So that was my fun filled weekend!
Got some goodies, new friends, and a lot of laughs and smiles.

Be sure to look up ThyGeekdom Con on Facebook and watch out for it next year!
